Data exchange between 2 Controllogix using produced and consumed tags.

This tutorial that i found in a forum explains how to communicate between 2 Controllogix using the produced and consumed tags. This doesn’t require the Allen Bradley messages instructions and it’s much more efficient.

  1. Hi. Thanks for the Tutorial. I’ve been trying to set up this test using 2 virtual machines (windows xp) with softlogix5800 each, through the ethernet/ip virtual modules that comes with the softlogix. One controller seems to be ok and consuming, but the other one cannot reach the produced tag on the first controller, it says “(Code 16#0100) Connection Request Error: Module in use.” It can be any of the two controllers that shows this error while the other seems to be ok.

Any insights on this case would be of tremendous help.

    Thanks.

    Jesús.

  2. How is it more efficient?? You have much more control with MSG instructions than with produced/consumed AND it’s easier for novices to troubleshoot.

    • Produce/Consumme use UDP layer protocol instead on TCP for msg. UDP is faster and need less overhead.

  3. Great Tutorial. Helped a lot
